How to reduce the effects of seasonal depression.

Seasonally depression happens to more than 3 million Americans each year. It is even more common in the parts of the US that experience cold winters. Your happiness does not need to be seasonal, and I have come up with a few solutions that help me stay active and happy during the winter.

  1. Take raw Vitamin D daily (5000 IU)

    • supplement for lack of natural sunlight exposure

  2. Take raw vitamin C daily (90 milligrams).

    • help boost your immune system during flu and cold season

  3. Develop a workout schedule to boost your serotonin levels

    • exercise helps boost your immune system and energize you

  4. Keep a journal to track your emotions and feelings

    • A journal can help your asses your feels and look back on the progress you have made

  5. Spend 30 minutes to 1 hour outside daily

    • Spending time outside can help you feel more connect to earth as well as reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression

  6. Purchase a sun light lamp to use while working at your desk.

    • The sun light lamp is a great supplement for natural sunlight, and it can be used while working at your desk, reading, watching tv, or at anytime. It will help boost your mood by replicating the natural sunlight you receive during the spring and summer months.

I am not a professional, but these are methods I have found to work and keep me active during the winter months. It is always important to prioritize your mental health.
